The Breeder. I have been wanting to breed animals ever since I was a little girl. I dreamt about my own kennel – the breeds varied, but it was always my dream. By the middle nineteens I finally got an own dog from a breed I was crazy about from the first minute I saw one – Belgian Groenendael. Tara was a winning ticket, she was everything I could have asked for and more. I was so so happy when she got her first litter. The pups were registered under the prefix of Tara’s breeder – Sudenpesän – as I didn’t have my own prefix back then. A couple of years later the owner of a World Winner -98 wanted to lease my bitch for her male. Of course I said yes and in the spring 2004 Donatrix S -litter was born at our home.

The dogs. After Tara I had a very bad luck with dog breeding. I kept on buying dogs and one after another had a fault of some kind that kept me from using them in my breeding. I’m a picky person, I know, but everytime I made a decision NOT to use a dog I also had a strong feeling I made the right choice. So I bred dogs for almost ten years without actually breeding them. In 2008 I finally got my first own litter out. It was a combination between Wicca – a niece of my beloved Tara and FIN CH S CH R CH JW-00 Donatrix Pompadour. The puppies were very promising and I did my best to motivate the owners to train with them and show them – and some of them did. At the same time cat breeding was taking more and more of my time and I decided to put dog breeding on hold. For a working breed and for me as a working breed breeder it is very important that the dogs used in breeding also work and compete and there just wasn’t enough hours in a day.

The cats. Balinese and Oriental cats entered my life in 1997 when I bought two sisters from Auli Ojennus, the pioneer of Balinese breeding in Finland. Arcticat’s Taifun and Sirocco lived as pets, were never shown and were never used in breeding, but we loved them to bits. Nuppu (Sirocco) died very young and I got an abyssinian cat from a friend of mine to accompany Taifun. Hestia how ever never got used to dogs and was so stressed out I finally I had to find a new home for her. Of course Taika followed as they were friends and for a few years time we didn’t have cats at all. In December 2006 I was surfin the net and fell in love with the white siamese! There was this 6 months old male kitten available in Tampere and it did’t take too long before I was on the phone with the breeder. Aku was the great great great nephew of our Taika and Nuppu and he was so sweet tempered and so nice looking that pretty soon I decided to buy him a bride. I had to search for almost a year before I found what I was looking for – a nice girl of nice pedigree and classic point colour. That girl was Jicarilla’s Blanche (Kookos), our foundation queen.

My goals. My number one goal is a happy, healthy pet. The kind of an animal that makes their owners laugh, reduces their stress level and adds happiness to their every day lives. With the dogs the character is even more important than with the cats but it is important to me that my cats too have a social, easy going temperament. In colourpoint cats my focus is on Foreign White and classic Siamese point colours: seal, blue, chocolate and lilac. With the Orientals it’s classic (blotched) tabbies I want. Even though I breed colour and pattern, the type and the pedigree have even more relevance to me. I’m not a big fan of inbreeding and if I ever linebreed, the combinations are carefully considered. It is also my dream to breed a fawn point Balinese one day – I have plans too, but I’m not in hurry.
